Thanks for joining me!
Hi my name is Simsim
For my individuals and societies class we are talking about how art can influence some societies and individuals causing the possibility of change. Personally I love art and drawing but I would say that poetry is not my strongest suit but I have always been interested by the effect it can leave in someone whether it’s good or bad. I honestly believe that art can influence either a society or and individual depending on how powerful the message or idea is. Art is important to me as I can express myself and my inner thoughts in any way I choose making the message or meaning more understandable. To me visual art and any art in general can also be a way of me relaxing but still trying to get somewhat of a message from which art for example I tend to listen to music and sometimes there can be messages in there depending on the artist. My main goal is to answer this statement of inquiry “Art has the potential to influence individuals and can be a vehicle for change within society.”
What is art?
Art is a human way of expressing someone’s ideas and feelings through a form that will show it. Art can be conveyed in several different ways as shown by music (instrumental, vocal), dance, performance , folk art, creative writing(poetry), painting, sculpture, photography, graphic, architectural design, fashion design, motion pictures, television, radio, film, video. Art can transform society whether it could be for the better good or bad as some societies can art view to be a distraction or some sort of negativity. Art can contradict a message based on the perspective of the person viewing it.Art can show and tell stories as shown in books as they have themes or a hidden message that they are trying to present so that reader gets something that might stay with him or her from a book.
Art has played a big role in history especially when it came to renaissance. The renaissance began in the 14th century to the 17th century in Italy. In this time period, people were changing their perspectives on art. For example, making more realistic and defined art pieces, expanding on religious views, creating much more interesting architecture in housing or well known buildings, and finally a different understanding of science. People in the renaissance were affected indirectly as the change didn’t happen suddenly, it happened gradually over time. This affected many places in Europe as they were influenced by the change in Italy. For example, in art and trade. The consequences of this change meant that some people may have different perspectives on different ideas. For example, religions were being challenged by other people causing some people who were opposing the idea of Christianity or other religions to die.
